God Knows You and Chose You

I don’t know about you, but I confess that there have been times in my life when I was uncertain that God knew who I was.  I mean, I didn’t imagine there was anything very special about me that would inspire God to call me to do any big jobs for Him.  In fact, I even thought I wasn’t capable of doing a big job for God.  I was an accountant, a CPA, and the One who knows every hair on our heads didn’t need me to work on the numbers. So why would He choose me?

Ever since my strokes though, my life has changed.  I feel closer to God in big ways and small ways.  I see His hand at work in my life, shaping my heart to notice all that He is doing.  I hear His voice as He tenderly nurtures me and helps me become a better ambassador of the things He wants me to do.  He didn’t call me because I am special, and He didn’t give me a second chance because of who I am.  He did it all because of who HE is!  He chose me and now He is equipping me in new ways to do His work.

The best part is that God always knew me.  He knew me long before I realized that I knew Him, before I understood how much I wanted to be His son.  I may not always feel ready to take on the assignments He has for me, but you can trust me when I say, I’m going to do my best; I’m going to try my hardest because I want to please Him.  I want to serve Him because of who He is and all that He has done in my life. He chose me and I don’t take that lightly.

Wherever you are today, keep in mind that God already knows you too.  He knows what you can do and He knows you’re capable of doing even more.  All you need is to remember you were chosen, not because of who you are and not because God wants to trip you up or punish you.  No, you were chosen because of who HE is.  He believes in you and He knows you will get the job done.  I encourage you to seek God’s presence and learn more about what He wants you to do.  Your job and mine is simply to get to know Him even better!

We love Him because He first loved us.
