Stop Everything and Pray!

Posted · Add Comment

When you’ve experienced a stroke or some other life-changing health issue, it’s natural to become very “I” focused.  What I mean by that is that you are fighting for your life and it feels like it’s all about you.  You want everyone to focus on your needs and your well-being.  You want your recovery to be everybody else’s top priority.

Okay, you can do that.  I won’t say that I didn’t do that, at least for a while.  The trouble is that all the people around you are limited.  They can only do so much for you. They are tools in the hand of God.

Your recovery won’t progress as effectively as it can without God.  You have to stop looking to those people around you for answers, and look up to God to discover what it means to recover in Him. He’s the only one who can truly change things and make a difference in your recovery process.

My suggestion to you then is this.  Stop everything and pray!  Stop worrying. Stop blaming yourself. Stop fussing and fuming over all that’s happened.  Surrender it all to God.  He knows you.  He loves you! He wants to heal you and He can do that best when you turn everything over to Him.

Today, I invite you to surrender your heart, your fear, your worry, and anything else that gets in your way and give those things to God. Stop everything and pray! God bless all the people who help to care for you and assist in your recovery.  They deserve your gratitude.  God deserves your thanks and praise and is ready when you are to hear your prayers.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NKJV
