Prayer Power

Posted · Add Comment

When you experience any kind of health crisis, but especially one like a stroke where you spend months in rehabilitation before you see the progress you’re hoping for, your spirits can definitely sag.  You can start to wonder if prayer really works, or if God actually has the power to heal you.

The One who spoke the world into existence, and who created all that you see around you is never short of power.  He has power to effect change in every area of your life.  At the beginning of my own recovery, I found it difficult to recognize God’s power.  I knew people were praying for me. I knew I even tried to pray for myself, but it wasn’t easy to trust that God’s hand was at work in my life.  It wasn’t easy to tap into His incredible power.

If you’re struggling with giving in to His power to heal you, strengthen you and renew your spirits, then I invite you today to try prayer once again.  When I say try prayer, I mean try giving up all that you imagine should be going on and ask God to work His plan, His power for you so that you can see signs of your recovery.  It’s not always easy for us to remember that God puts all the resources of Heaven and Earth at our disposal.  He knows what you need and when you need it and He won’t fail you.

If you’re feeling like you’ve already blown a fuse on prayer, then ask others to pray for you, but then try again. Plug back in to the One who willingly and lovingly works for your good and desires that you find your way back to good health.  One more thing I learned, was that God cares about my health, but more than anything else, He cares about my heart and my soul.  He wants all of me to plug into His amazing power.  May He bless you with new resolve to recover and new strength to surrender to His will for your life.  May He help you rediscover the power of prayer.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.   Ephesians 3:20 NIV
