Let Hope Surround You

Posted · Add Comment

One of the outcomes for any of us when we are hit by a crisis, whether it’s a health crisis or some other form of difficulty, is that we can lose hope.  Losing hope is like pulling all the shades and denying that there is still light outside. We’re surrounded by everything that only adds to our sorrow. All we see is the darkness and we wonder why.

Psalm 42:11 gives us a way to seek hope.  It asks us to consider this. Why am I so sad? Why am I so upset? I should put my hope in God and keep praising him, my Savior and my God.”

Perhaps you can’t offer praise today.  Perhaps you are still sitting in the darkened room, waiting for the light.  I encourage you to remember these things.  You have every reason for hope.  You have been given the hope of the ages, the hope that can never parish, the hope that comes from Jesus, our Lord.  As you rest in that hope, may you look for ways to let the light of hope surround you.  Let the sunshine in at every opportunity.

Look for the beauty in the simple things that you can accomplish, reward yourself when you’ve managed to achieve a new goal, and let your friends offer you love and support.  As you do, you will discover how closely God has watched over you.  You will begin to see His light shining on every aspect of your healing.  You will see His hand at work in your care givers and in the lives of your family.

Don’t keep the shades drawn.  Open your heart to the light and let the Son, the One who truly shines, give you hope and healing.  Let hope surround you every moment.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In God’s great mercy he has caused us to be born again into a living hope, because Jesus Christ rose from the dead.
