He Is Special

He Is Special

Recently I was speaking at a book promotion event; and I recalled that back in 2007 after enduring two strokes and major brain surgery, I found myself with significant deficits. After a month in a medically induced coma, I awoke to begin an intense rehabilitation course. I am here today with a nearly complete recovery. As I described my journey, I could see a lot of inquisitive looks in the audience. After my presentation, a stroke survivor came up to me and commented that my stroke must have been “mild”. I replied that I suffered two severe strokes and had life-saving neurosurgery. I was in a coma for 30 days and had to endure 60 days of physical, speech and occupational therapy. I don’t believe it was mild at all. The comment did not offend me, because I surmise that other stroke survivors wonder why my recovery is different from theirs. I don’t know for sure, but they may be saying to themselves that they worked very hard for their restoration, but they don’t feel their recovery is near complete.

I don’t want anyone to think that I am somehow special because of my renewal. The fact of the matter is: my recovery isn’t because I am special, but because He is special. God has shown me tremendous favor; not because I did anything to deserve it, but because of His mercy.  It’s His love.

Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

  1. A true testimony of the grace and mercy of our Heavenly Father who does all things for the praise and glory of His matchless name. Mark, I believe that God knows the end from the beginning and I know that He knew that you would always boast in Him. Bless you for your faithfulness.

  2. Calvin says:

Our God is great and is merciful and mighty to deliver us and loves us all. The question is, do we love Him and are we willing to get to know His Holy Word (the Bible) and His instructions to us. As to know His holy word, is to know that He really loves us and sent His only begotten son (God the Son, Christ Jesus, the Messiah) to this earth to rescue and save the lost from our sinful ways, according to the gospel of John, chapters 1-3.

We thank God for you Bro. Mark and all who would like to know and receive the truth of God.

  3. James Malloy says:

Bro. Moore, Thank you for sharing these wonderful doses of spiritual inspiration. I especially appreciate your ever positive attitude and how you always give God the glory. Yes, He is special. God bless, Bro. Malloy
